Led a design team in various initiatives to create a world-class experience and facilitate the expansion to 500 workspaces across 10 major cities.
Starting point
Shortly after joining the company, I collaborated with Julien Smith in crafting the Series C deck. With a $54 million Series C led by Menlo Ventures, our primary goal was to expand our inventory to 500 workspaces across 10 major cities, aiming to "open one space per day."
Evolving the design process
I created the necessary environment within the organization for designers to excel, make their voices heard, and drive user-focused initiatives. I led a team between 2 and 6 designers, including product designers, brand designer and UX researcher.
We established a methodological process and ensured its understanding across the company. This enabled us to find the right balance between the complexity of software and what held the most value for our users.
Refining our brand and services
As the core behavior of our customers shifted from individual hourly bookings to team/enterprise reservations spanning multiple days offsite, our entire brand and service had to evolve to better resonate with this audience. The overall Brand direction was shared with Sophie Fidler, Interior design lead.
This pivotal shift prompted us to redirect attention to our previously overlooked internal tools, enhancing them to better serve our team of over 100 contributors across operations, customer care, and sales.
A team of facilitators
Additionally, we facilitated quarterly offsites with diverse leaders and executives. These sessions ranged from simple workshops like “How to sell and operate in room-service” or "The journey of launching a space" to more intricate discussions like "Transitioning to office offerings.”
At our peak, the company boasted a workforce of 200+ employees, including a dedicated product and engineering team of 40 individuals. Additionally, we had a collective of 12 designers proficient in interior design, product, and marketing efforts.
Learning: leadership over management I led and mentored designers who now thrive at Slack, Klarna, Shopify and Metalab. However, I’ve learn that I shine when I’m focus on design rather than management.
